I am a communication-based HCI researcher and a Ph.D. student in information at the University of Michigan. My research lies at the intersection of communication, human-computer interaction (HCI), computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW), human-robot interaction (HRI), and design research. I aim to deeply understand how technologies (e.g., mobile technology, social robots, and emerging technologies) can support human relationships in communication contexts. My research explores the design of technologies that account for societal, generational, and distance factors, with the goal of fostering social and holistic well-being through the formation, maintenance, and development of human-to-human relationships.
Prior to my PhD, I received a M.A in Communication at Seoul National University. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts and Journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
